How do I understand if I've paid back a previous years tax underpayment?

Newbie questions - in 2017 - 2018 I appeared to underpay tax (approx £2.8k). At the time I opted to pay this back through my monthly pay (instead of as a lump sum) in 2018 - 2019 in addition to tax for that month.
I'm in the process of completing my tax return for 2018 - 2019 and it would suggest that I owe tax again for this year + the original £2.8k from the previous year.
Having reviewed my paychecks for Apr - Aug I had a tax code ending in a 'K' which would suggest that I've been paying this back, but is there any clear way of outlining that I have?

Do you mean your Self Assessment calculation shows that you owe another £2.8k or are you confused by the need to include the £2.8k as a figure of tax underpaid included in your tax code for 2018:19?
It is also relatively unusual for tax owed from 2017:18 to be included in your tax code for 2028:19.
If it was included in your 2018:19 tax code then that's really all that matters but are you sure it was from 2017:18?
And there is nothing that unusual about potentially owing a similar amount again. If you owed it one year and the underlying reason continued to 2018:19 then more tax would be owed. If it was down to a problem with your tax code did you get your tax code for 2018:19 corrected?0 -
Your notice of coding for 18/19 should have shown the adjustment for the underpaid tax for the previous year. What was shown on the notice of coding?0
