Sorry if this is not in the right section but it is to do with benefits....
Why would a person who has gone for a smear test be asked whether she has a job or is on benefits? Whilst having to fill in a compulsory form. The person in question was receiving dla. But what is the relevance of this question..? Will things be changing and benefit claimants be regarded as inferior patients or be made to pay? Just wondered if anybody knows about any new rules? Thank you..

My daughter had her smear test yesterday and did not have to fill in a form. She was not asked anything about her employment status either.
What was the form?0 -
Have a read of this page on how data should be collected
https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/your-right-to-be-informed-if-your-personal-data-is-being-used/
So the answer to your question is with the whoever asked. The person questioned has the right to know why the information was collected and for what purpose. They also have the right to have it removed if the collection of the data was inappropriate.
So no-one here can give you an accurate answer as an accurate answer is within the person's own capability.Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

Was she registering with a new practice or hadn't been for a long time?
The form was probably a demographics form, doctors surgeries are asked to collect information about their patients demographics as people in certain demographic groups tend to face different health challenges than those in other demographic groups so if the governing bodies know which surgeries have a high population of unemployed/single mums/carers/disabled then they can target initiatives and funding in the correct places.
There would be no point in giving a grant for breast feeding support at my doctors surgery for example, the birth rate has plummeted here and I think there's only 2 under 5s on the island. Pensioners though, we have boat loads of those so if you want a surgery that needs funding for shingles vaccines then we are your target.0 -

Do they ship them over then?Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

The data maybe for use with other data collected in aggregate form to ensure for instance that advertising/reminders are being best used - a very simplified example - say the take up rate for the test was 80% for those on benefits and 92% for those in a job they would try harder to target people on benefits than those in a job.0 -

You could be a Mum with children.
I do remember being asked if I worked kinda casually as I was getting on the table. But it was taking about coffee and cakes that got me.
The first burning question was why have you not attended for this check before.
My doctors surgery achieved what a gum clinic couldn't at the first screen years ago.0
