Bank says I didn't have PPI - can I trust that?t

I have been fairly certain that I did have PPI with an old mortgage of mine years and years ago. I used Resolver and through them contacted Friends Povident and Northern Rock and was told that I "didn't" have PPI. So my question is can I trust what they say in that I didn't have PPI or do I need to dig deeper? Unfortunately I don't have any paperwork or bank statements going back that far and the bank account was in a joint name with an Ex partner of mine so I don't have access to that account anymore. Any advice to.put my mind at rest would be appreciated. Thank you!

Nothing you can do. They don't have the evidence, they would tell you if they did. And you don't have the evidence so your claim is dead.0

Yes. If neither you nor they can produce any evidence that you had PPI, it's looking like you didn't have PPI.0

If you arranged the mortgage via a broker neither Northern Rock nor Friends Provident would necessarily know if you had PPI unless they supplied the PPI policy themselves. If the PPI was through a broker and was pre regulation ie before 2005 then the broker doesn't have to consider your complaint.0

Friends Provident were a life assurance company. They didnt offer PPI. Friends Provident also had nothing to do with Northern Rock. So, it is likely any insurances you arranged were not with Northern Rock.
Where did you get the name Friends Provident from and what do you think it has to do with PPI?0 -

That is a very good question 0

I don't know how to replyto each comment individually (or it won't let me so my apologies). Firstly thank you for all your comments.
1) yes but was through a broker and it was before 2005 and tbh I wouldn't know who the broker was now either so that would also explain why it wasn't through Friends Provident or Northern Rock. Friends Provident might have just been the Life Insurance provider like before mentioned.
2) I wouldn't know how to dig deeper ha ha. I hadn't thought that far ahead so that's a good question! So suppose I have gone as far as I can anyways.
So thank you all again. It looks like I possibly didn't have PPI after all then but just thought of seeking a second opinion of people who know (bease I certainly don't when it comes to things like this!). So thanks again for all your comments. It is appreciated!0 -
