Do A&L think that anyone over 50 is gaga?
The 7% looks great, but its only on a maximum of £2500 and it will cost you £10 a month!
Assuming you absolutely "max out" the account at exactly £2500 for a year, you earn £175 interest. You pay £120 in charges, leaving you £55 in profit.
But compare that to their own existing Premier Direct account at 6.5% (albeit for "brand new customers only") on a maximum of £2500 and with no monthly charge (A&L: don't even think about it!). Again, assuming you absolutely "max out" the account at exactly £2500 for a year, you earn £162.50.
Whilst it is nice to have a new product from A&L that isn't for "brand new customers only" for a change, this wrinkly retard is in no hurry to "upgrade", as they put it.

The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

I guess the included travel and health insurance may make it worthwhile for some people - I understand the cost of these products shoots up once you reach 65.

I just got an e-mail from A & L offering me an upgrade to this new account. I guess if you do travel a lot it might be worthwhile and the health insurance is a bonus but £120 is a lot of money I guess I will just have to weigh up the money against the benefits... anyone got any thoughts?#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
