Immersion heater wired to be permanently on ?

Have you tried putting the switch to the other position and removing the fuse next to the switch?0
-
Don'y forget that if you have E7 you can probably arrange for a two hour break in the night so that the cheap rate lasts longer into the morning !0

It would be handy to see a couple of photos of the meter and of the fuseboxes / breaker panel / consumer unit.
Perhaps there is one breaker for the day circuit and another for the E7 circuits.0 -
Ok, to disable it permanently yes kill breaker at the consumer unit. But to make it less crap get an electrician to fit a timer for the bottom element (having swapped the wiring off the night rate output (use timer to get night rate)) and fit a Horstmann Electrisaver to the top element for boost control.0

Surely there is a thermostat beneath each of the white covers which sounds as if it needs some adjustment.0
-
Day and night can't be on the same breaker at the consumer unit, so if the is only 1 im going to guess its night and day is just on the ring.0

Funny that both elements are fed via that switch faceplate though . . could it be one supply that is fed to either heater by the switch? Would be a total bodge if it is, but who knows with an amateur installation0 -
As the right hand cable goes to the lower immersion heater, my guess is that there's just a terminal block for the E7 night rate feed to connect to the cable behind that plate. Whereas the left hand cable is fed via the switch from a day rate feed for the top immersion heater.0

Whatever is going on we’re likely to be seeing discussion around an unexpected high electricity bill at some point.0

Well at least the tank is double insulated so there shouldn't be too much waste..0
