Going off at a tangent slightly
How about importing a mobility scooter from China ?

They claim 15km/h
They ARE very cheap - £312
Spares may be a problem though ?0 -
I'll have to go and have a readof the Equality Act.
Those things from China have the same problem as the ones already here - weight.
Also you have to allow for import duties and, once you have decided to buy one, the cost of shipping, it could be free or cost a fortune for delivery, or you would have to purchase a number of them to get it for the advertised price, not to mention that, at 15Km or about 9mph it's too quick for pavements.
Far better to consider one which is easy to dismantle, such as for example the Pride GoGo, Pride Colt, Drive Scout, Drive Style ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264413058834 ), and many more.0 -

This one cannot be the same as the picture - which clearly shows a Lithiium battery powered one - where are the twin 12 AH batteries located ?
My own Pride Apex scooter (https://glebehealthcare.co.uk/products/pride-apex-rapid-full-suspension-boot-scooter?variant=13634925101158¤cy=GBP&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google+shopping&cmp_id=655723572&adg_id=32199797663&kwd=&device=c&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoePEhsTr4wIVS7TtCh3piwRwEAQYASABEgICAvD_BwE) is similarly powered and you can clearly see the battery pack - the range of this is claimed to be 7 miles but in actual fact - couldn't be trusted to reach 3 miles !
The range of this cheapie - quoted as 6 miles should be taken with a pinch of salt too - more likely a couple of miles0 -
The Pride Apex looks like the GoGo except that the GoGo does not have the fancy suspension springs which are fitted to the Apex.
Apart from that they look like they are very similar designs.0 -

They do look similar -except for the battery pack ..
This implies that the GoGo has a Lithium - hardly likely at this price. ..0 -
The GoGo does not have lithium batteries, it has gelpak sealed ones - maybe the new ones will have them, maybe not.
Saw one last night and the owner had removed the battery pack and put bigger batteries in the space instead.
Owner said she got her son to measure the space where the battery pack fitted and got him to buy the biggest batteries which would fit in the two spaces either side of the seat support - they are held on with bungee cords - she says she now gets about 20 miles out of a charge, but the batteries are a lot heavier.0 -

At £500 this is a bargain !!!0 -
There is a popular online site that you can get a basic mobility scooter for about £400 to £600 if you put mobility scooter into a search you will find them they might do about 6 miles on a charge depending on the weight of the person.Someone please tell me what money is0

I purchased this scooter, with lower gearing and an extra battery, for my husband back in 2010.
I chose it specifically because I could manage the handling and transport of the scooter (he was already not able to do so) ie pick it up and carry it up a few steps or onto a bus or easily lift it into the car, partially folded or not, depending on the vehicle.
https://www.travelscoot.com/ (lots of info if you scroll all the way down on the different pages)
It is:
- light weight
- fold-able = very portable
- reliable
- has a great customer service ethic
- the batteries are approved for carriage by airlines.
He did find that, due to the inherent limitations of Parkinsons, he, not the scooter, felt rather unstable when going too quickly (!) over cobbles as there are no armrests to lean against. His version also does not have a motorised reverse gear so he just pushed back with his feet. Apparently newer versions now have motorised reversing abilities.
Here is a blog which is just chock full of great information: http://mytravelscoot.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html Start at February 2009 as she is learning all the tips and tricks of TravelScoot ownership. (from TravelScoot website)
While it was initially an expensive purchase, it was an absolutely brilliant piece of equipment for while it met his needs. It has now been passed onto another family member as hubby needs a lot more physical support to remain upright so we have moved on to one of the largest scooters on the market -- it actually comes with DVLA registration!
My top tip -for any mobility issues- would be to go to a local mobility shop (or several) to try out different brands and models, both new and used. If you see a scooter user while out and about, ask the person using of their experiences. Also check to see if any DWP benefits / Motobility payments can be applied to providing the scooter.
There's also a good, depending on where you live, used mobility equipment market online if one searches enough.
Good luck0
