It looks like I am a magnet for bizarre PPC claims.

Through the post today, a robo claim from "F1rst PARKING" telling me that my arrival at this layby was my first exit time of 13.03 (complete with exit photo!) and my departure was 14.36 (complete with entry photo!). Of course, I was picking up and dropping off the same person from the apartment block, and the cameras never saw me on entry because the layby was crowded with parked cars using it for Vauxhall station.

I have appealed and explained why this is nonsense.

But it is absurd that I get threatening letters with a PPC going after me for time I know I spent at my flat in Battersea, and according to their own evidence, I could only have spent outside of their managed layby.

I'm wondering if I can go after them for compensation.

The PE case stunk and I lost the challenge, but it ended up costing both myself and PE considerably more in that I defended it. I don't see this one going that far, but something tells me I should not be appealing and should allow them to incriminate themselves by going to the county court to prove once and for all that they are robots.

Only if they take you to court, lose, and you can persuade a judge to award you costs for unreasonable behaviour unfder CPR27.14(2)(g).

    This is called cdouble dipping, read some of these;

    and complain to your MP

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

But this is actually more absurd than a bog standard DD.

    Let me explain:

The layby is a ONE WAY pick up point off a busy circus around Vauxhall station.

"Entry photo" shows the front of my car at the exit and "exit photo" shows the back of my car at the entry.

So effectively they are saying that I reversed in off the main road at 13.03, then reversed out at 14.36 in an attempt to deceive the cameras... or something.

Of course, their own cameras should have evidence of me leaving in the correct direction at around 14.37!

So not only is this a double-dip, but a particularly absurd one that accuses me of reversing through a layby.

Unfortunately my MP (in Battersea) seems to be concerned only with high-visibility special interest issues, and is highly unlikely to be sympathetic to motorists or have any time for "invisible" injustices that won't raise her public profile.

edit... thank you for the disappointment of finding out who my MP actually is. I previously assumed I was in Kate Hoey's constituency.

Complain to the BPA that the code doesn't work.

    Complain to your MP anyway.

    N. Email Steve Clark at the BPA if you've been given a duff POPLA code:

    steve.c@britishparking.co.uk

Sometimes PPCs cancel when he investigates their conduct.

For continuity, I'll note that the letters stopped with no explanation of why.
