Clunk from clutch when first pulling off

I hear a clunk from the clutch when releasing the clutch from a cold start, only happens once literally when pulling away, I suspect it’s the slave cylinder, the car has been stood a while before I bought it, is this something that could just go and leave me at the road side?.
It’s a 2006 Avensis 1.8 petrol.
Many Thanks

If it is the slave, then it's possible. The only way I can think it would be, though, is if the slave's piston is being pulled back overnight, perhaps by an over-stiff dust cover - so the first movement pushes the piston out into contact with the release bearing, or the bearing into the pressure plate.
Is it an annular combo slave/release bearing on these? If not, at least the slave'll be easy to change.0 -
Try pumping the clutch a few times before putting it in gear. Does this make a difference?0
