Emailing a large attachment? Is it possible?

I'm trying to email a .AVI file (a 5 minute mobile phone video) it's 272mb. When I try and email it from my btopenworld email address via Thunderbird it manages to complete about 3% (in 10 mins!) before it tells me that message sending has failed.
I then went to the web based btopenworld site to try to send it from there but it says the maximum attachment size is 20mb.
Is there any way that I can send this file via email? I tried compressing it to a zipped folder but it is still 267mb. I run Vista if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance for any input

most mail servers have a email size limit of 10mb so yours wont go.
the best option would be to stick it on a cd and drop it in the post, proberbly quickest option.
the other option is to use rapidshare, or yousendit you may have to use zip or rar to split the file up in to 100mb chunks upload to rapidshare then email the 3 links to whoever. the other person will then download each file and use rar/zip to extract the video from the archive.
its messy but is the only real option that doesnt need any software installing.0 -
Not a snowball in hells chance!
I suggest you upload it to somewhere like
spread-it 500MB allowance per file
and send an email with a link to the file0 -
Put it into a zip file, hopefully it will shrink it to <100Meg, and then http://www.yousendit.com/
If it is still too big, there are other alternativesEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks, can a video go on a CD though? Would it not have to be a DVD? I have some blank CD-R's already so would be good if it will work on a CD.0

A CD is just a medium for storing data, it doesn't really matter what the data is......0 -
Yep, the CD's I have are 700mb but I wasn't sure if a video can be viewed on a CD as opposed to a DVD as I thought CD's were just for music, photos and data files like Word documents? Sorry for being so dense

EDIT:
Wrote the above before reading davetrousers post!
Thanks everyone
