I was only a sole trader in April and May of that tax year, as I have stated above. So my accounts should be marked as only up until the end of May...?

Yes, if you stopped self employment durng the tax year, you enter the date of cessation on the SE pages.

So, it follows that the accounts are made up to the date of cessation... right?
Just to check I'm not being completely stupid: this section is for sole traders, right? Because I'm also the director of a ltd company. I was also employed by it, which I included in the employment section, and have also recorded my dividends etc.

    Usually yes.

Yes, it is for the self employed, sole traders etc. It is not for a business which is a limited company that you are the director of. That is not self employment.

If you are the director of a limited company then you would have to include the details (taxable pay, company benefits, dividends etc) in the appropriate place(s) on the return. Which it sounds like you have done.
