The plumber had every opportunity to read the specification, measure the pressure available and advise that the tap was unsuitable.
To have a minimum of 1-bar pressure at the hot tap would require the cold-tank to be 10-metres above the tap.
This tap is OK for people with a combi-boiler, if their mains pressure is in the range 1-5 bar.

    Thank you.

Yes it could be an option. I do like the look of the tap. I can't see that there are two choices of aerators. Unfortunately the xxx plumber seems to have thrown the box/tools etc out but I don't remember seeing aerators, think it all came in the tap.

    This is our tap

The spec also only mentions a high pressure filter/aerator thing, but it had 2 different ones in the box., your tap is much fancier than ours so maybe it is all built in?

My OH fitted ours and initially did not notice there were 2 different ones, he used the wrong one to start with, but to be honest, even fitting the right one did not make a big difference!

Our tap is supposed to be suitable down to 0.2 bar, which is what we have.
I have done a bit of reading up on the problem and some places say that the use of these flexible connecting hoses is part of the problem as they are narrower inside than the rest of the pipe work, no idea whether that is correct.

    The specification: -
"The kitchen mixer tap can be used in low- and high pressure systems. Tested to manage a pressure of max. 10 bar (1000 kPa). Recommended working pressure: 0.2 – 5.0 bar (20 kPa – 500 kPa)".

0.2-bar requires the cold tank to be 2-metres above the tap.
If you could exchange your no-flow tap for this one, it has a better chance of operating.
Your plumber should do the replacement 'free-of-charge'

He's not my plumber, unfortunately, he's the councils as this is a partly adapted kitchen in social housing because of the conditions I have. IKEA have refused to allow a return as the tap has been installed, is used. I agree the other tap would have been a preferable one given what I know now.

Its all been a bit of an !!!! trip lol. The supervisor looked briefly at the tap, didn't check the specs just said when I queried if it was suitable for what was in the house (explained pressure problem) 'we can fit anything'.

THEN, most of the kitchen was installed on Friday. A plumber was here. Without saying anything to anyone, he installed the standard council low tap because only a two hole sink had been supplied. I didn't see until 16.30 as its been made quite clear I am person non grata, not supposed to speak to contractors even. Its like being in Borstal. They've installed a 800mm carcass in a 1000 mm carcass hole. Didn't seem to realise there was an 800mm hole next cupboard along. Installed a 4 drawer cupboard with delaminated corners. Now waiting for the missing 1000mm carcass.

Today, they agreed once again to install the IKEA tap but no plumber was here. I think the supervisor installed it. I would imagine he turned the tap on but didn't flip it to the end to check hot water ran well. It doesn't.

The person in charge is erm a humourless tick box henrietta. So won't get any help there, particularly as the problem is caused by this not being a standard council approved tap. They agreed to install it, but they aren't going to solve the problems caused by it. They are my problem. I can take that on board. Just wish the council had higher taps that allow you to fill a kettle when you have hands like mine. But sense never seems to prevail if it means that box can't be ticked.

I will have to employ a plumber and see if a pump can be installed. I don't fancy throwing more money at IKEA when they won't accept returns after installation, even though their specs are wrong.

To be honest my head is buzzing. I am a bit autistic and this has been a bit more difficult than I hoped. Communication skills (verbally) are not my thing. I went into an apologising for breathing fit when a meeting was held today. The co-ordinator has a bit of an attitude problem but nothing I can do about that. She's more of a 'no' person than a solution finder. Even the supervisor just stood there nervously nodding and stammering, I had no chance. I will fix it when they are gone, will just have to save for a bit. Obviously I haven't paid for this kitchen so I can't really complain.Just wish they hadn't made my lovely gloss kitchen (its the council's really ha ha) look awful with the handles they've insisted on installing. Refused to let me install push to open catches or stainless steel T bar handles. Oh well, I'm probably being a bit difficult.

Another thing which I think does not help is that all the new taps are fitted with non return valves. The tap we replaced, a 30 year old Franke single lever mixer did not have this and the HW was a little better than from the new tap, though not great.

As our bathroom taps are also 30 years old, that probably explains why they are more satisfactory in use, now I come to think on it.
