A £5 device that will make your car run better than its manufacturer can with a budget of millions? :)

Just change the oil & filters regularly, IIWY.

    The £5 ones do nothing.

The £60 ones do 12 times nothing.

Giving the OP the benefit of the doubt here ...

Is he/she talking about re-mapping ? Now, I'll say straight out that I'm no expert on the subject, so happy to be corrected. But as I understand it, a manufacturer normally programs the ECU to give a reasonable balance between power and fuel economy, under a range of conditions. This can be tweaked to give more power at the expense of economy, or vice-versa.

It needs to be done by someone who knows what they're doing, with the proper kit, and will cost rather more than a fiver. And whether it would pay for itself in terms of fuel savings I've no idea. And you'd have to notify your insurance company of the modification. But is this maybe what the OP means ?

But that aside, of course you can make a big difference to fuel economy just by sympathetic driving.

No not remapping its an OBD box with a couple of LEDs that flashes to let you think its doing something.

Connect 12v to one and it will flash the same pattern, strange that with no ECU to talk to.

Just an LED and some resistors.

There's a magic, and really cheap way to save fuel.
Don't press the right pedal down as far, and stay off the middle pedal as much as possible.

Says it all really. Now this is one occasion where the word "scam" is relevant.
