'This is Money' the personal finance website owned by the Daily Mail , is currently running a 'Fantasy share picking game' It is free to enter with cash prizes. You could use this is as a virtual account and maybe win !

Thanks looks a good game will sign-up.
So many platforms out there , work colleague uses etoro but he's in no way an expert. Freetrade comes recommended as does trading212. Do you get what you pay for ? Are there advantages to big names like HL or II ? Or do they all do the same thing?

It would be a lot better to just make regular contributions into a suitable low cost diversified mixed asset fund via a respectable platform. Invest with people who are working for your interests not just their own.

All this virtual portfolio and etoro type dross is a completely unnecessary distraction in the path to getting nice and wealthy.

Thanks Alex what respectable platform do you recommend?
  • I would go with Freetrade. It's easy to use and has no fees which is perfect if you are only looking to invest a small sum. If you sign up via a referral link, you will be given a random free share worth between £3 and £200 (more likely to be worth £3 let's be honest). I can PM you a link if you want.

For a small S&S ISA consider investing in funds on Vanguard Invesor or Cavendish if you see any reason to invest in non-Vanguard funds.
