Who's name is the finance for the car is it linked to the car.

Since you knew things were rocky for 6 month seems you have not been unwinding your financial links or commitments.

a week ago you were talking about moving north together

Exactly, only last weekend we were talking about moving. Not sure where this has come from

The finance is in my name but he drives it to work every day as he works further away and its much more economical than my car

Id say its a normal house, its a 3 bed semi detached. Although as I just have the one child there is a spare room, so perhaps they could argue I don't need 3 bedrooms

I think you’ve got several options.

If he’s willing to wait 18 months then great (he could well point out you don’t need a spare bedroom)

If he’s not then your options are downsize (you could point out that it might take more than 18 months to sell)

Or you could look for a loan and just pay him off.

Is a loan a simple solution?

Is this just another passing through phase like it was in Jan.
Seems that one blew over how long did that take?

Is the finance tied to the car or just a regular loan?

Could be a phase, the last phase lasted about 6 weeks. Now he's back in the phase. Can I be bothered with this for the rest of my life? No sir

Could possibly get a loan, or I've probably got enough limit on my cards for a 0% money transfer

More loans could impact the mortgage.

Yes, I think the saving up would be better perhaps

Seems a shame to sell a £425,000 house over 18k

Is it not possible to get the mortgage first and then get a loan?

Have you asked him whether he will wait for you to pay him on a monthly basis? He won’t necessarily get his money any quicker through a house sale.
It’s not really reasonable for him to expect you to stump up the equity for an illiquid asset at a moments notice.

Of course if he’s difficult then some people might go through the motions of selling the house but leave it untidy, make it hard for viewings to take place and mention a few issues with the neighbours so that it doesn’t get sold before you can pay him off.

    What has he said?

I could do yes if that's possible

The mortgage is a fixed rate one, not sure if I can have it put into my name without paying an ERC?

    Why?
You keep saying you don't like the place anyway.

Just plan to move on and he can wait.
