Uniform tax?

Hi all, so my other half had to leave his job due to severe ill health 3 years ago now and we are both on a joint ESA claim.
We have recently been made aware of this uniform tax, where you can claim money back if you had to wear a uniform or something at work?
Is this right? What are the terms etc?
As a welder/fabricator he had to wear one everyday for his safety.
Is he eligible still after 3 years of not working for the company? And if so how do we go about claiming?
Thanks 🙏

There is a limit on how far back you can go and it is not just for having a uniform or special work-wear it is for cleaning or replacing it. Also you are getting close to that limit so may be something but not a lot.
You cab check if you can claim here....

A word of warning do not use a third party site to claim through they will take a large chunk of any rebate due to you.
Claim direct to HMRC0 -
The work wear should be logo'd and the employer should have no laundering facilities on site or offer to launder at their expense.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

As a welder/fabricator he may have had a allowance in his code number for flat rate expenses
