I'm glad the assessment is finally over and done with. Some of the questions they ask people are very distressing indeed but they have to ask those questions to get a picture of how your conditions affect you. Even though you explained it in the form, part of the assessment process is to verify what was written in that form.
You can request a copy of that assessment report by ringing DWP. You won't receive it now until after the New Year most likely but when you do receive it you'll have some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report.0 -
Normal, I was asked the same. Am also asked the same by my psychiatrist and CMHT at times.0

Hey, I’m new here but thought I’d quickly reply.
I have PTSD and have been in those dark places before. Luckily, I also did my degree in psychology lol. Although those questions can be jarring, I promise they have a purpose.
WARNING: Possible triggers!
The reason they ask these things is people who are in immediate or near-future danger of hurting themselves tend to already have things worked out: methods, when, where etc. If the only thing stopping you is the Aston Villa game coming up...obviously after that, you’re in danger! They need to assess how likely it is you’ll really hurt yourself so they aren’t missing an opportunity to help you before it’s too late
I know it can be a bit invasive and almost accusatory feeling (even though I fully understand why they’re being asked, I still get the same feeling as you haha!).
Hopefully that helps a little bit for any future meetings you have, just so you know where they’re coming from and that it’s not to embarrass or shame you, or to make you feel guilty - that’s how I often feel, but it’s a natural reaction and you instantly want to protect yourself. Hope it all goes alright for you0 -
I have recieved the decision for the PIP and have been awarded standard rate for daily living only. I feel totally devastated as was expecting enhanced rate for both.
I know I should be grateful and I could request a mandatory appeal but I don’t have a lot of fight left in me and what I do have I need for day to day life.
I went in to great detail on the form, hoping that and the assessment would give me the help I need.
I would appreciate any advice, I feel like I am at breaking point and don’t know if I have got enough in me to put myself together yet again:xmastree: Member of PAYDBX number (33) £2360.74 / £2674.42 (debt left £1604.79 - signature updated 10/06/19)0 -
As you clearly know, if you want to challenge the decision you have to request an MR. Most decisions are not changed at MR in which case you can then appeal to the tribunal service. This takes a long time but success rates are high.
Only you can know if you have the will to do this. Do you have access to an advice agency that might be able to assist you?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
