Hello please.
So, I share a car with a friend. I have a key and I cannae find it.
Hopefully I will, but it ain't looking good so far.

Thus, I am here, at the hive mind for all things bargainy, to feed upon your wisdom.

It's a 7th generation (2019 I think) sporty Ford Fiesta automatic.. I thiiink it's a keyless ('remote'?) key. Push button ignition.

Any tips on how to not spend a million pounds getting a new key?

Thanks muchly

PS. it looks similar to this (or possible is this)

£90 - £270 depending on the chipset and your location and whether you use a dealer or a locksmith.

How not to spend the money, find the original key.

There's two ways to do it.

Cheapest is to clone the other existing key.

Better is to get the lost key removed from the car's security system, and a new key added.

The car knows of two keys - A and B. You have lost B. If somebody finds B, they can still use it.
If you get the other key cloned, you have two keys - but they're A and A - while the car thinks you have two - A and B.
If you get the security system reprogrammed, you and the car agree on two keys - A and C.
