PPI and Resolver

I decided after taking advice from people on here to try investigating PPI myself through Resolver. The big issue is that we dont know if we have had PPI, we have had quite few loans etc over the last 30 years but finding the paperwork is gong to be very difficult as we have moved 3 times.
Two of the companies replied and said they were going to investigate, hinting maybe they had found something but the other 6 just said based on my information which was basically my name, address, dob etc they could not find any evidence so they would not be taking it any further.
Am I being naive to think I can just send them that sort of information and they should be able to find it ?... should I send them another reply and what else can I send them other than maybe previous addresses etc
I just want to give myself the best chance possible to maybe get something back
cheers

Try to avoid using Resolver if you can. It's quicker and easier to go direct.
Yes, it's naive to expect them to find records that old, as they're required to destroy them in accordance with the DPA.
If you have any more relevant details, then send it, but previous addresses unrelated to the policies won't be of any help.0 -
Oh thanks.. I was told by other people on the forum to use revolver but thats fine..any reason why revolver is not a good idea ?
...so basically if I cant find any paperwork then I have no chance of claiming anything ?

It's just they have a habit of sending things to the wrong place. It's not a huge problem if you have time on your hands as you can just do it all over again, but with the deadline approaching, it makes more sense just to send it yourself in the first place.
If you have no evidence of mis selling or even of a policy, your complaint can't be looked at.0 -
I remember a long time ago that I was a member of experian and on their report they listed all the companies ( loan providers etc ) that have been used ...is there a way of finding all these contacts without joining them again
..it might remind us of loans and where to look

Your three credit files will show the last 6 years.
You can check them all for free via MSE Credit Club, Credit Karma and Clearscore. No need to join anything or pay.0 -
yes but that will not list any loan providers before 2013 ?

No.
It won't show you whether you had PPI either - just the lenders you used.0 -
Sorry for the misunderstanding ..thats what I was after..a list of lenders we may have used and then I can do some digging
thanks anyway0 -

As ZX81 says above, it's rather too late now for Resolver-anyone considering making a complaint this late in the day should be doing it directly rather than using an E-Mail template...0 -

I know that this is my favourite subject and that I have a tendency to bang on about it, but.....as has been said before Lenders have an obligation to NOT keep paperwork indefinitely due to Data Protection Regulations. The same applies for credit reference agencies etc.
All you can do is ask a lender as some have longer retention periods than others. It is quite reasonable to expect the replies that you have already received for anything more than 10-12 years ago.I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0
