    Look on unbiased or adviserbook for an adviser - do not go through lead generators like that.

    Thanks wjr4, I had no idea they were a "lead generator" In fact, I'd never even heard of the term till it was mentioned in this thread.

    Lead generators run websites which are strung out across the Internet like spiders' webs and serve much the same purpose. They collect the contact details of people looking for advisors and then try to flog them to advisors, charging on a "per lead" basis. By contrast with a directory like the ones recommended in this thread, the advisers pay to be listed on it.

    These leads are almost always low quality. I.e. they typically have almost no money and want advice on how to turn it into lots of money with no risk - present company excepted. That is why SonOf referred to only desperate advisers buying these leads.

    There is of course another type of adviser who buys these leads because they think they have a way to make money from them. They also tend to be the same kind of adviser who gets banned from giving pension transfer advice and has their assets frozen by the FCA.
