Sorry.
Just a little update. Ive heard back from one company who did manage to find my parents accounts. The accounts didnt have ppi but it does go to show that companys do indeed keep records for that long and it is possible to find with realitivly little information.0 -

Who do you think paid for your speculative complaint punt where there was no evidence of a PPI policy never mind a mis-sell reason? Roll on the 30/08.0 -

I dont understand your anger. My parents had loans. That I know for sure. What I didnt know was if they had ppi. As they both had health issues and worked part time only if they had indeed been sold ppi it would have been miss sold. What is wrong in asking the question?
Why are you so rude and angry?0 -

I don't think this is allowed under Data Protection Laws, so you may wish to complain about that to the ICO.
It won't lead to any refund I'm afraid. The Data protection act 1994 (and subsequent amendments/acts) requires the destruction of data when it is no longer required. The FCA recommend different destruction points but 6 years after the event is the most common. Some firms will keep data longer for existing customers but speed up destruction once the business relationship ends.
At least your mind is set at rest and you have the added satisfaction of proving that my original assessment of your case was wrong,
Are you sure the Bank did not just respond that they no longer have any record of PPI attached to your parents' accounts?0 -

No. The letter clearly states that they had found my parents records but they didnt have ppi.
I am capable of reading and understanding what was written.
Obviously, as they didnt have Ppi I wouldn't be expecting to claim.
Thanks for your comments anyway.0 -
