Amazon flex driver rip off

Just checked the app and downloaded the Hire and reward insurance certificate that is valid until September 2021. Amazon pay your insurance and you are covered minus the excess whilst driving from them. So no need to pay £800.Some of the newer depots are 20 miles away, so I only select jobs from the one located 2 miles away, which is PN. You take the rough with the smooth, as more often or not I’m quite local with the odd address further away. I’ve been doing it for 2 years and I a) sometimes deliver out of sequence using the map and finish nearest to my home. b) I don’t take the bags back until my next shift to save on fuel. c) fill up at the cheapest place and don’t spend. I take a flask if I have back to back blocks. As others point out, Amazon is clear on how they pay you. The only thing that bugs me is city centre apartments and no parking, or you can but you just have to dash in and out on doubles. You can’t claim so you risk it or be really nice and make the customer come down lol. But quite rightly, your not an employee, your a contractor. You decide if it’s worth your while or refuse it and close up your account. With more Morrisons joining, I’ve more choice. Maybe you would be better waiting for closer jobs.0

Sorry, I know this is an old thread but wondered if anyone could help.In terms of claiming mileage I know you can’t claim for to and from the depot but what if your final customer is say 20 miles from home but the depot is 10 miles from home. Can you claim the 10 miles as if you were going back to the depot first even if you don’t? Thanks.0

Mileage is claimed at 45p per mile from Depot (pick up location) to final Delivery - whether it be the last parcel Delivered to an address or a returned parcel (undelivered to address) to the Depot. No difference. However if delivering from more than 1 Depot then you have no fixed place of work so you can claim mileage Home - Depot - Deliveries - Home. You only need to do 1 delivery a year from another Depot to qualify as 'No fixed place of work'.1
