LPS Parking Charge Notice

My wife has just received a PCN from a local car park that she visited a couple of weeks ago.
She obviously no longer has the parking receipt as it was only a pound for two hours, she stayed for one hour seventeen minutes, which is not disputed.
The fact that she didn’t buy a ticket is, however, especially as this car park is well known locally for catching people unawares and she takes great care not to fall foul of the system.
Although she’s a sprightly eighty year old the fine is more than her weekly pension. I imagine that the issuers would have some record of the registrations entered in the ticket machine. As she is dyslexic there is a very slim possibility that she may have transposed a number, but we are convinced that their system has somehow failed.
Any help or advice appreciated.

Wrong board ... ask a board guide to move this to the Parking board.
It's not a fine ... read the NEWBIES FAQ in the Parking board.0 -
Thank you. First post, bound to mess up! 0

Welcome to the forum. Please take the opportunity to read the newbies thread at the top of the forum. It's a very comprehensive guide that will tell you how the game you've been inadvertently caught up in works. It will tell you what to do and when.
If the reg number may have been transposed. Judges often consider this a trifle and can throw the case out "de minimis".0 -
MonkeyRum, she paid for two hours.
Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
