    The issue with not doing a DOV is that any changes become gifts from those beneficiaries that give up a share and will sit as PETS on their own estates for 7 years

    I don't think so, one of the main reason for doing a DoV is to avoid an inheritance ever hitting your own estate.

    With the additional £150k of allowance we will largely be out of IHT. Presumably, it is then more efficient to simply gift aid the money to the charities once we have it, particularly as my sister is currently a HR tax payer?
