Wheel trims

  • One trim had a bit of kerb damage when I bought my car, and I found a set of 2 on eBay, so I had a replacement and a spare.

Also, I presume you have fixed the remaining 3 (and will fix the new one) to the wheels with those nylon locking ties?

  • Scrap yards are the best bet for a single one, if there is a decent one near you. Will cost about £2

If you do that please put a pair of scissors or a stanley knife in with the spare wheel so that when you get a puncture you can actually get the wheel trim off

True. You can also use a small pair of side cutters or a small retractable knife - both of which should be in any good electrical tool kit. Being an ex-boy scout (due to the unfortunate incident with the scoutmaster and my woggle) I also always carry my trusty little red Swiss Army penknife.

  • Have a search on fleabay for Vauxhall wheeltrims. You can get non Vauxhall but with logo quite reasonably priced for a set of four.

One of the wheel trims has fallen off of my car somewhere, which obviously means that I have to buy a new set of 4 in order to ensure that they match. It's a 1997 Vauxhall Corsa which I believe has a 13" wheel. With it being 10 years old, it's practically worthless and as such I'm not bothered about having Vauxhall wheel trims, I just don't want it to look as ugly as it does presently with one wheel trim off.

So guys, where's the cheapest place to get a set of 4 generic wheel trims? I'm in Dunfermline. There's a "Mister Motor" type place in town, somewhere like that? Or online? Or somewhere else?

Really looking for advice as I have no idea where to start with this one and need to do this as cheaply as possible; I'm skint as this month!

    Cheers

    Rich
Tip: Go to http://www.quickhubs.com/. You can get new exact replacement for your wheel trim without having to buy four or visiting a scrap yard. It's all done online.

Thanks for advise Richard. I just lost a hub off my ford mondeo and went to https://www.quickhubs.com where i could buy a single replacement as opposed to a set of 4. Simple, easy, brand new and next day delivery!
  • Hiya,

Tesco Extra in Dundee do a pack of 4 non generic wheel trims from around £13, I could pick up a pack the next time I'm in if you wanted although your Tesco up by the new housing estate (can't remember what it's called - Dulloch Park?) might have some or even Asda.

I've friends in Rosyth and Dunfermline so we visit each other regularly if that's any help.

Failing that, the scrappy's, we have loads in Dundee, or have you tried lost property at your local car park (mind you think the one in the Kingsgate shopping centre is closed with the renovations isn't it?)

Our local multi story car parks usually have loads and will sell them to you pretty cheap, or just give them away to get rid of them or even the local constabulory too.

Just a few idea's and hope they help.
  • You know you don't need to replace all your wheel trims. You can just go to http://www.quickhubs.com/ and get an exact replacement for your Vauxhall wheel trim online. Looks better than non-gen and costs about the same.
