EON - Lowell chasing payment

I'm a little confused by this one.

A few years ago I lived in a property and started paying OVO for electricity. I left that property roughly 3 1/2 years ago settling my bill once I'd left.

, Today I've received an overdue account notice from Lowell to my current address for £449.22 for 6 months energy supply. But they've kindly offered me a 30% discount.

Now this is so long ago I have no proof that the payments I made to ovo were made easily available to me. Nor do I have any way of checking that the billing is correct. In addition to this my current energy bill is under £20 a month meaning that at the amount Lowell are asking for I'd be paying for over 2 years.

Does anyone have any tips on how to go about discussing this with Lowell without it ending in court or costing me money I don't believe I owe?

    Your bank should be able to give you evidence you paid, if you did pay.

    Where is Lowell's proof you owe anything? I take it they are one of these bottom-feeding debt-chasers, *is that so? What does your credit report say? You can get the Experian one free on here.

    You keep talking about Ovo but your heading states Eon. Are you sure which supplier you had at this property? One of us may be a little confused.

    * Yep, they are.
