i have been given a bt 205 ADSL router by a friend who says i can use this and get online ?
im confused . what do i need to do ? do i need a router or would i be better just buying a wireless modem?
i dont want to go out and buy something i dont need.
can i not just plug the xbox straight into the computer ??

You may have to give you XBox 360 a static IP address, and then add that IP to the DMZ of your router.
As the Xbox isn't likely to be infected by anything untoward then you are safe putting it in the DMZ

thanks red rose , think im going to give up trying to hook it up using the pc . going to buy a wireless modem and xbox wireless connector. its seems a easier option .Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0

All you need to do is to put your username and password into the Voyager router so that connects to the internet. Next, you need two network cables - one to go to the computer, one to go to the Xbox. The Xbox needs no configuration. You'll need to go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections and select "Never Dial a Connection" to prevent the computer trying to dial out with the modem.0
