Considering switch from Scottish Power

As a member of the MSE Energy Club I have used it to get some details as to who I might switch to. EON came out best for me I think but the monthly payment quotes on MSE is £20 less than what I am quoted when I log on to EON and get one of their quotes. And the Tariff on MSE is not shown when I look at EON site direct. Why is this? Can anyone help please? I also noticed, as I switched between providers and their tariffs on MSE Energy Club, that sometimes when I looked at EON there was a message that read 100% Renewable Energy and yet at other times this message was not there. And when I switched between the options With or Without Cash Back I got a different Standing Charge rate for Electricity. Do I have a dodgy MSE site or a dodgy EON site? I would love to get away from Scottish Power - they have not responded adequately to a complaint, I can never reach them on the phone, almost as soon as I switched to them last year my monthly payment increased (which is why I ask about what I see on the Energy Club site as I based my switch in 2018 on their figures) and the Tariffs they are now offering me at the end of my current one is £20 per month more!! I feel I am spending my entire life on things like this - it should not be necessary.

    I feel your pain. :D

Do you think the different prices you are being quoted coiuld be related to the fact you are looking at two different tariffs? Just a thought...

Now why you cannot see the same tariff Eon are quoting on their website also on the MSE CEC website, I cannot answer. Perhaps you should contact MSE CEC and enquire.

MSE Energy Club as well as comparison sites/other big switching sites negotiate/get given exclusive tariff rates due to volume of business/collective switching they provide to the Energy Companies

Equally while the above might offer cheaper tariffs "in some cases" Cashback Sites/Refer a friend links "might" work out cheaper even if the tariffs are slightly more expensive. ( I am not specifically referring to EON)

Those who have Gas and Electricity would be prudent for them to get quotes for individual fuels as well as dual fuel quotes as many energy companies are cheaper for Gas or Electricity, very rarely cheaper for both.

Hello Hardup49 and thanks for your interest in our tariffs.

Which is the tariff you can see on MSE and not on our website? Some tariffs are offered exclusively through broker sites like the CEC.

The 100% Renewable Energy message referred to tariffs where, for an additional cost, we would guarantee to offset the energy supplied against renewable sources. These tariffs were withdrawn last week when we released details that all electricity would now be matched against renewable sources.

From 9 July 19, customers who had signed up to these clean tariffs will no longer be charged the supplement. They'll automatically go on the same tariff but without the additional clean charge. Where customers opted for the gas, too, we'll honour our commitment to offset against renewable sources and waive the supplementary clean charge.

    Hope this explains Hardup49.
