Why cant I see the "to" address on an email to me?

I'm tarting up my spam rules, and some emails seem to have an empty "to" field.
So, how are they getting to me in that case?

Because I'd like to delete them as they come in rather than try to delete based on distinguishing words in the body of the email or the sender which will be different each time. They must have a "to" email address to get to me.
(In case you are wondering how come I dont know my own email address, I own a domain so "anything"@mydomain gets routed to me. But not only can I not see the "anything" I cant even see @mydomain" either.

TIA
AJ

You were probably bcc'ed into the message and there was no 'to' recipeint. Can you get your email client to show bcc and cc fields?

Addresses in the 'bcc' field of the sender should not appear at the recipient. The recipient's address does not have to appear in the email at all, including the in the headers (although most MTA software will put a "Delivered to" header of some kind into the headers. The recipient address only needs to appear in a RCPT line of the SMTP envelope.

But the OP's address will, which is the whole point!

It's in the Envelope-To header, which will be removed by your email server upon delivery. You might be able to create a rule with it.
