    WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT FROM THE LINKS;

    From EST.co.uk;
    In the UK: 2001 prices
    Gas 1.5p KW/H,
    Electric 7.3p and 3p KW/H

    Based on these figures, running costs for central heating for a 2 bed terrace is;
    new gas condensing boiler; £193
    Electric Storage Heaters/Off Peak; £379

    THEREFORE that means they estimate a usage of around 12,800 units/yr. So if I apply that figure to Guernsey costs;

    IN GUERNSEY
    Electric, off peak, 1 unit (which is 1 kw/h) costs 3.9p (plus £10 per quarter) = £540 per year
    Gas, 1 unit (also 1 kw/h, handily!) costs 6.04p (plus 25p/day) = £860 per year

    Wow thats a difference from the UK - it looks like our gas is just a lot more expensive than yours.

    So thanks to everyone for this links that helped me figure that one.

    Anyone who disagrees with my figures/conclusion feel free to chime in!

    Wow that is expensive, I wonder if it is imported as liquid in tankers as opposed to having a pipeline to France, so priced more as LPG.

    Shades of things to come here on mainland ? :eek:
    Seems like competition works, (in the beginning. :rolleyes: )

    The water cylinder required would be an "direct" Best one with 25 yr guarantee is still cheaper than £600 + tax, though you would need to spend around £100 on electronic timer/controls. There then would be no need for a seperate storage tank in the roofspace.

    The top diagram is for electric only, the bottom one for gas with electric backup.
