HI, i need a laptop with a bigger hard drive, mine only has 128gb, I currently have a Mac Book Pro Retina 2013 8gb RAM i5 2.7, i have seen an older MBP which is late 2013 but has 512gb hard drive, 16gb RAM and similar processor, £460.

Would this be a valid upgrade albeit to an older model, many thanks!!

Upgrading the ssd in your current MBP would seem the obvious solution.

Early retina MBP are upgradable as the SSD module is plugged in, unlike the later models where it is soldered in. I updated my 2012 model with a Transcend SSD:

I thought about upgrading but the 512gb SSD is £150 and then if I wanted to upgrade the ram at a later date I would be unable to, was going to buy the older MBP and sell my current one.

As I understand it you've got an early SSD in your Mac. If yours was a bit older it would have had a SATA hard drive, and you could have put a 480GB SATA SSD in it for <£45. If £150 really is the best price you can get, and you want to upgrade the other bits, then sell the ol' girl on eBay or whatever to help fund the newer one. That'll put a dent in the £460.
