Hetty hoover

Im thinking off buying a hetty hoover can you use them without the bag if you were to clean the filter often?

  • Yes but it’s very messy. The bags are very cheap on Amazon and hold a lot. Ours gets changed only about once every 2 months or so.

A friend uses hers without a bag without a problem. She recently said it was loosing suction, it was so full of dog hair that it was backing up into the hose. It also had a beer bottle cap stuck in the hose. While recently dogsitting I cleaned it by hitting and brushing the filter while in the garden.
I've got a Henry and always use a bag. The bags are larger than average so take longer to fill.

You can get generic numatic henry bags for £3.99 for 10 via amazon ( my local electronic place sell them the same price) which does me a year, or you can buy a generic filter for £6/£7 which you will end up spending when the filter gets beyond washing out.
Emptying and washing out the filter is incredibly messy job for the sake of £4 a year I would get bags.

Plus, it's a lot more pleasant just unplugging the bag from the hose and chucking it in the bin, when compared with cleaning out a fluff-filled vacuum cleaner.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

You can get a reusable bag with a zip also, which saves the filter and is easier to empty.
