Do bifold doors count as patio doors for house insurance?

A common question when searching for house insurance is "Do you have any patio doors?"

However most sites dont seem to have any guidance as to whether bifold doors count as patio doors. Is there any guidance out there?

I'd have thought French Doors, Sliding Doors and Bi-Fold Doors are all fairly obviously examples of patio doors.

But if you're in any doubt, phone the insurer(s) you're thinking of using and ask them.

It's better to get a clear statement from them in advance, rather than having an argument with them following a claim.

Patio doors are any doors that open onto a patio. This is distinct from other doors that open onto a pathway, such as the back or front door. I wouldn't bother calling the insurance company if you are happy for them to be regarded as patio doors, but do make sure you have insurance approved lock cylinders on the doors.
