Windows update is offering me Windows 10, Version 1903.

Before I install it, is anyone aware of any issues that have arisen, regarding it?
Thanks.

Got it on my desktop this week. Knocked out my Epson Perfection scanner software, as all their major updates have done in the past, so I expect to renstall it each time.
Otherwise, no unexpected changes (or improvements) to note here.

Took about 50 minutes with no issues, once it decided it liked my PC....
Took about 1hr 15 mins on my laptops.

  • If you have System Restore active as part of your normal way of configuring Windows, do check after the update. mine was turned off during the process.

System restore still active with my 1903, but waiting to let it automatically create a restore point and see if I can restore from it. With the previous version(s), Windows would not restore from such points, only manually created ones. It was a known issue and the solution, as posted by a moderator on Microsoft's forum, was to only try to restore from manually created points, which does work!

I see Windows 7 Backup and Restore is still there. It has a known bug backing up to NAS boxes on a LAN and the word is Microsoft are aware of this and have no plans to fix it, as they are dropping it (and the much worse File History) from future versions. I already use a different backup service, so personally don't care about it.

If you are permanently logged into forums, email programs etc., does it log you out of them?

System Protection was ON before the update.

I can assure you 100% that it showed System Protection as OFF after the update and there were no historical points when I turned it back ON.

It was not sitting idle waiting for a restore point to be created !

I've just done this update today on my Lenovo laptop. Had been worried about doing it the previous Microsoft update messed up things a lot. However, very pleased, no problems at all. In fact, did a speedtest and reached 70 mbs.

The update didn't log me out of any sites, my Thunderbird email programme still running, and everything as before. The only difference I've noticed so far is a couple of missing icons on the desktop, which isn't important.

The update took just over an hour to download and install, then a couple of restarts.

    Good luck
