Please find the attached images -

I am trying to purchase a CAT-S car.

Few clarifications, Please kinly provide your thoughts -

1. How come a car with a small damage was categorised as CAT-S ?
2. This damage to the front of the car - could this damage would have resulted in internal structure like welding items near the engine area ?

3. Should i ask or look for specific things in the car prior to the purchase ?

I have seen the car. It looks neat and clean.

Note that i am not a car mechanic. First car :). so a novice. And that is why i am posting the question here.

Regards

What makes you think the car has had small damage?

You can't post images here directly. Post them to an image-sharing site and then post a link here.

You need to get the car inspected before purchase.

You dont want to be in an accident and find the crash bars are missing and the chassis was poorly repeaired and crumpled far more than it should and then the airbags fail to go off because they have been triggered in the original accident and simply bypassed rather than replaced.

What should you ask, when is it convenient ro have someone come and inspect the vehicle.

Pay someone to inspect it top to bottom before you buy.

Thanks for responding. But do you think the comprehensive vehicle inspection will check for airbag trigger and other things ?

Cat S means structural damage. Cat N would be non-structural only.

Looking at that pic, there's a chance of front inner wing/suspension pick-up damage, A pillar damage. You can see there's sill damage - and that, alone, may well be enough to tip into S. Is there underside damage, too?

Add in a possibility of boot shut/latch damage.

TBH, I suspect it's just the sill, and possibly underside. But there's one big question you need to ask... It's a fairly recent car - non-trivial value - so why did the insurers choose to pay out market value rather than repair it?

Are you buying it repaired or still damaged?

Who is doing a full inspection? Plenty of people buying stuff like that and repairing it cheaply and not properly.
