What I don't want is for the warranty company inspector to turn up and say repair is say £2k and they are knocking off 20% for wear and tear or it's not covered due to wear and tear and I have to front the bill myself.
If they're going to apply 20% wear and tear reduction ("betterment"), then I'd have thought that'd apply to the full bill - so £4,500 - 20% = £3,600. Warranty only covers first £2,000.

Yeah, I just gave an example there of it being £2k in total.
Worse case could be £4.5k and warranty company claim "wear and tear" and not covered.
Best case, would be a minor bill eg £1k and completely covered by warranty.
So, I guess I'm going to be confronted with a bill from a minimum of maybe £500 to £4.5k with a warranty company trying to squeeze their way out of it as much as they can.
I think my best bet would be to get a separate report from the auto-transmission garage and then compare that to the warranty company engineer report and possibly dispute it from there should the need arise.
And possibly hope that the bill doesn't exceed £2k so the repair doesn't cost me anything.
