Is there a phone engineer out there?!

HELP!!! My landline phone is broken and I have no idea what to do to fix it. It is a ntl d5100 phone with 2 handsets. I was in the middle of a call when suddenly I couldn't hear the other person and I could only hear my own voice coming back at me! There is no dialing tone and when I ring the number from my mobile the landline does not ring. I have tried switching the whole thing off at the mains. I think the guarantee has just run out.:rolleyes:

I would be really grateful for any help!

It could be a fault on the line rather than the actual phones, especially if there is no dial tone. Unless the phones are DECT mobiles and they are out of range, or lost connection with the base station...

Plug another phone in and see if it works, if it does it's the phones, and if they are out of warranty, then it'll be cheaper to replace than repair.

If another phone doesn't work, contact NTL to sort it out

As isofa said, try another phone. If you haven't got one, get the cheapest one from Argos... less than £3. Always good to have a basic phone as a spare in case of emergency during power cuts.
