Having car serviced before selling

When we buy cars, we usually end up using them until they are pretty much finished, and don't regularly service them. This time, we're not planning on doing that. We've had our car for 2 years. It's a 2012 car and was serviced in 2013 and 14. It hasn't been serviced since but we now want to sell it. A service is about £160 and I'm just wondering if we get it serviced before we sell it, is it likely to not make any difference to the price offered (we're looking to part-exchange)?

You haven't got a full service history so will take the hit when selling. It's probably wasted money now and false economy when keeping a car.

I wouldn't go near it, to be honest. That is serious neglect.

If it's gone six years without a service, then servicing it before sale won't make any difference to a buyer who is concerned about that kind of thing. Save your money.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

Let us all know what it is so we can avoid like the plague, that’s ridiculous.

...no oil change for 5+ years is a serious neglect and false economy, I would not touch it with a barge pole...

The point to service it has well gone.

Should increase the value to around £160.
There's a reason for those annual services. And "annual" is a bare minimum.

Depends on how many miles the car's done since the last one.

...regardless of miles oil should be changed at least once every 2 years, (some suggest every year regardless which is probably a bit OTT...)

My car is coming up to 10 years old this summer and I've done only around 4k miles this year due to a change in circumstances, but even if I don't get it serviced at MOT time I'll still get an oil change done. I've considered doing it myself but haven't really got the facilities (or tools).
