DELL Inspiron 17R stuck in sleep mode

Hello helpful techies
My 6 year old Dell Inspiron 17R has recently been sticking in sleep mode at the screensaver stage, but has unstuck itself eventually.
This morning, it wouldn't wake up from the screensaver at all, and the 'on/off' light remained lit even after turning off. The only way I've managed to wake it was by unplugging the power and removing the battery. Battery was replaced 2 years ago.
I don't really want to operate without the battery all the time. Could this be a battery problem? Or something else?
As always, thanks for any advice.

2019-06 Widows updates messed with Dell power integration (again).
Update the Intel IMEI Driver
and Turn off fastboot
When the power light stays on like that it's quicker to just hold down the power button for 10 seconds to switch it off fully.0 -

Just seen your edit. problem is (was?) that simply holding down the power button for more than 10 seconds did nothing!
I've managed to turn off Fastboot. No idea how to update the Intel IMEI Driver though.
Am I in the right place here?

Looks like Dell's driver. The one you have tye url for is an Intel NUC pc
Probably for the Intel site you are better off using their driver assistant

I haven't really got a clue what I'm doing here, so I think I'll leave well enough alone, rather than risk making things worse.0
