Another person with more money than sense.
Oh well, you can't help everyone.
Virgin phone package is a rip-off for calls outside the inclusive ones, rip-off rates to mobiles, rip-off rates to internationa, rip-off rates to non-geo (0845,0870 etc).
The aim is not to be lazy, but to save as much money as possible.
Even if you only make a few calls, then it's less of an effort if only a handful of calls are going via 18185, a couple via BT and the inclusive ones via Virgin.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
My question was to compare a with b, not a with b+c+d+e.
"The aim"? Your aim maybe, but not everyones. Time has a value, and if I have to spend another 2 hours a year nagging the family to think about and use a prefix everytime they pickup the phone, monitoring another bill and variable direct debit, or spend money on a dialler, that has to be balanced against the savings I might potentially make. As most of my calls are to geographic numbers at evenings and weekends, then I will save money and get cheaper internet by moving.
There is a point where money saving can become an obsessive hobby. It seems that if people don't follow that obsession to the nth degree, they get labeled as a fool on this board.

...and money too!:D:beer:
I apologize for my sense of humour, I should add smilies to my posts, but then it loses the effect.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... I was considering going with them for BB, phone and TV but from what I've read on various forums is that VM have many disgruntled customers complaining about a whole spectrum of issues relating to every service they offer. You're obviously not one of them, good luck.
EDIT: OOPs sorry just realised you have a link to a PDF with the prices, oh well, I suppose you know of the virgin media forum now if you did n't aleady.{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}

Hi,
Can anyone advise me of how the virgin cps system works, they are my ISP and are offering a slightly cheaper internet deal if people move their phone calls to them, but I have been unable to find any details of what this involves in terms of additional phone charges. For example, do mobile phone and 0845 and daytime regional numbers cost more than BT option 1, either by per minute costing or min connection charges?
Thanks
It seems I may be very similar user to you, so avoiding all sarcasm & anorak penny pinching, because like you I value my time and can readily afford the extra few pennies, or even pounds.
I have BT line rental, with Virgin ADSL BB, my phone calls were automatically switched to Virgin, however as I only make a few calls every week, to geogrqphic numbers, I find it really makes little differance. I do use 18866 for daytime calls to companies, but I used to with BT anyway so it is habit
My personal calls are always evening & weekends anyway, because that is when they are in not for penny pinching:rotfl:
So to answer the question, Virgin for phone calls, providing line rental is still BT option 1, you can use 18866 etc overide if you want to
Can't answer questions regarding calls to mobliles as I never ring them on landline, 0845 again I have only had cause to ring one once [no to 0870 I do know about and no alternative given] and honestly for the time & convenience just dialled it, I know I could have used anothe CPS but honestly could not be bothered for the few pennies involvedEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
