That’s great info, thanks. Something to consider.
Unfortunately, I am beholden to a company which offers finance at the moment, so although I can get a price guide myself, I’m not in a position to DIY the whole process.
At least this gives me more of an idea of the setup I would be better off looking at.0 -
Finance yeah, but not necessarily that companies finance.
Recently I got emails from this site advising of 2% apr on certain loans, and that's what I used to buy my electric car.
Worth considering as a home improvement loan perhaps.?
I got my original panels on the house roof in 2014(more recent ones were on my garage roof) from a company offering finance, and I took it.
However when I looked at the deal later I was paying 10% interest. So then took out a short term loan with less interest to pay them off.West central Scotland

Well I will look into it. My credit rating is 999 but I am already paying off a “home improvement” loan with the bank when I needed a new front door. They don’t tend to loan one home improvement on top of another although I could search around for another loan company. I am in a good position to borrow I suppose.
If I had cash, I’d be in a better negotiating position too.
Thank you.0 -
Earlier this year I paid £11,500 for a 16 panel 4.8 kW array, "optimisers" (another name for micro-inverters?), main inverter and a 6.5 kWh battery. I was in a hurry to get in before the FIT was terminated so perhaps I paid a bit over the odds? But I have been very pleased with my system, so far.Reed0

And ALWAYS get more than one quote for solar panel installation ! You'll have seen from this forum how the one firm you've contacted are regarded; almost anyone else is likely to offer a better price ! And if you indicate roughly where you live, a local member might offer you some advice on best local company.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -
I have considered adding it onto the mortgage. It may be the best route to go down.
I’ve had a frustrating day. I spent the weekend filling in a couple of those comparison things, where they find up to 4 companies in your area to get in touch. Two of them only found one supplier and both of them were Project Solar!
I found a local electrician who says he does solar, so I might give him a try. If I find out he is affiliated with Project Solar, I’m installing a sodding wind turbine!0
