Can Pyracantha go in Planter Pot?
Options
Is it wise to use Pyracantha Orange Glow/Fire Thorn in a large planter tub rather than in the ground, where i want it there is gravel with planter on the top.
Could i keep this a certain size in a planter tub because the pic on the label shows it climbing up a wall.
Planter is square 50cm high by 55cm wide.

Yes but it may break free from the tub if its not a strong one.
Coincidence i have just come on from the garden after digging 2 of these out of the ground. originally placed there over winter and they seemed to be happy.
They sat there a while due to family issues and not having time, when i came to move them they were stuck, obviously rooted through the tub.
Seems a small root had grown through a small drainage hole and that root was now over 1/2" thick.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Ahh yes i would be concerned about them getting into the ground like that, i wanted them next to the house so don't want roots around the foundations etc.Enjoy everyday like it's your last!0 -

You could place some thick weed control type of fabric under the pots but covered by the gravel
Or maybe stand pot on sturdy pot feet, or some bricks?
I've done the latter with a plum that wants to escapeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
