Heathrow Terminals travel

Hi Folks

Hope you can be as helpful as all the times before.

Travelling via Heathrow in September and wanting to know the easiest option of the following two, but also the 'how do I do it' ...

I'll be getting to Heathrow the day before I travel, and my flight time is 07:45 the next morning.
I have previously stayed at the Thistle T5 Hotel, as I used Terminal 5, but this time I'm needing Terminal 3.

If I use the Thistle T5 Hotel again, how do I get from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 at 04:00-ish ?

Or do I go to another hotel on the Bath Road, and if I do, how do I get to Terminal 3 from it ?

Yes, I'm a ludditical hermit, and don't like big, confusing places ...

All I need to do is get my head down the night before I travel and then get myself to Terminal 3 at the crack of sparrows ...

Hope someone can be of help ...

Thanking you kindly

:)

    Hi LadyDee

    Thanks for your post :)

I've looked at that page, but found another that says that that the "trains operate every 15 minutes from 5.07 until 23.47" which I think is too late for my needs on that morning.

More than happy to be corrected on when the trains start in the morning.

  • I think you may struggle to find public transport that gets you there. Have you priced a taxi for T5 to T3?

I'd then compare the price of that together with the T5 hotel versus a hotel near T3 and a taxi to T3

There's a Hilton in Terminal 2, which is a short walk away from Terminal 3.

If it's too expensive, there's a lovely Holiday Inn at Terminal 4 and you could get the tube to Terminal 3 when it opens. First train from T4 to T123 is 5:02 Monday to Saturday, that should be plenty of time, you'll arrive around 2.5 hours prior to your flight (which is plenty)

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

If you stay along the Bath Road, from most hotels you are able to use red London Buses for free to get to Heathrow Central Bus Station. It’s not that we’ll known, but Heathrow subsidise the buses so all journeys within the airport boundary are free - and this includes a good stretch of the Bath Road.

Another bonus is that some of the routes are 24 hour so should work for you too. Even if you stay at a hotel just outside the free travel boundary on the Bath Road - you can still use a bus - they’re cheap and you pay with your contactless card so no worry about change or Oyster cards.

This superb website explains it all in more detail with handy maps etc https://www.londontoolkit.com/lhr/heathrow_local_buses.htm It also has great suggestions for cheap eating around the Bath Road area. Use google maps journey planner to check the bus timetables.
