    Have you approached your local councillor?

    Did you and your solicitor see the original tile to the property?

    If there was no mention of any lease in respect to the garage, what proof does the council have that the title to the whole was not freehold?

    And if it is a coach house why was it not advertised as such?

    Is the council guilty of misrepresentation?

    And surely your solicitor should be taking this up for you without additional payment?

    Just a little update, I got in touch with my mp then two days later the council contacted me and said they were sending a surveyor round. She said the new plan they have sent is completely wrong they can’t take away part of the house and that if they intended to keep the second garage there would have had to be lots of legal terms noted at the time of the sale. The problem is they valued the house with one garage, but obviously didn’t do the necessary legal things properly when they sold it to me. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and waiting to hear back from them once she’s submitted her report!
