Hi Stunty.
Thats fab news re the mint card, go you!! it's amazing isn't it when you look at your finances just how much we've been paying that we needn't have been..
Next step, do you have any remaining credit on a lower apr card that you can transfer the rest of the balance over to? therefore performing 2 functions.
1) getting shot of the bloomin stupidly how-do-banks-get-away-with-it ridiculously high APR totally
2) removing the temptation of spending the rest of the credit available on the other card!!
Your doing fab hon, keep going!! xdebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -

I'm giving myself a food budget next payday (next week) of £15 a week. I will admit to being totally useless with food bedgets and what to eat as my ex used to do it and i got lazy. However I'm willing to learn and get retrained.... lol
And I forgot to say that I'm retraining for a new job with more money next year, so I'm hoping to get this paid off earlier.....
Stunty.
Welcome to the forum
If you haven't got a slow-cooker, I recommend getting one. It will make life easier for you - you can use cheap cuts of meat, add a few veggies, throw the switch before you leave for work and have a lovely hot (cheap) meal ready for when you come home.
No need to spend a lot on one either, there are cheap ones available almost everywhere.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Morning Pania,
Yeah, I've still got my Egg card, paid it off last month, so i guess i can transfer the rest to that? At least the interest's lower!I am one of the 63336.'It is better to have lived one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep.'

Well done you you're doing really well! Have you checked that you are getting single person discount for council tax as OH is no longer there? Batch cooking make a huge difference to cost of bills if you have a freezer and once you've got used to cooking it actually becomes fun! I NEVER used to cook & lived on ready meals and now loathe them, cook everything even bread & my own jam which, if I dont say so myself, is delicious! Great news on the BT card but dont let it lull you into a false sence of security. One thing it may be worth thinking of is a house share. I did that when I got divorced & it was great for having people around but not having to speak to them plus its cheap & you share things like the cost for sky packages & bills!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Right! this place is great, theres so much advice! You all rock y'know.
I'm off to get a slow cooker later (a whole £9..) and I'm going to check out these batch cooking pages...
I won't get carried away over the card, it will only be used to transfer and pay off at 0% APR.
Local council have changed the council tax to include single person discount. So thats cut my monthly payment to £70. I'm actively looking for a new place, the lease on this flat runs out in Feb anyway.I am one of the 63336.'It is better to have lived one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep.'

hey hon, where did you find a slow cooker for £9!! i is wanting one!! If the balance on egg is lower the Lloyds TSB (won't tell you what i have the TSB down as standing for but Those Stealing ....... are the first two words lol!!)
Then transfer away, but before hand i'd call egg up and tell them you want to cancel the card unless they offer you a lower APR, bit cheeky but worth a shot!! God i'm meant to be working!! DOH!!debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -

lol at your abreviation for TSB. I'll try and hustle Egg when the Mint cardarrives and get the transfer sorted.
Agros is the place for cheap slow cookers.... (considering they're next on the hitlist for claiming unfair charges lol.) The one I'm looking at is this one, but theres a stainless stell one for 50p more. But every penny counts eh?

May I suggest you pay the extra 50p and get the s/s one. It's oval and so will hold a chicken if necessary, and it has a removable crock which makes cleaning a bit easier.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
