Hi All
New to this forum so need to work out how to search previous posts and threads yet.
I have a Specific question about contacting companies to make a PPI enquiry which I have tried to do recently to be told by them that they do not check car finance companies. When I have been told this I have asked why and they have explained that it is their policy and it is a decision of their director. It seems to be a theme and I’m probably being quite clueless but does anybody know why specific question about contacting companies to make a PPI enquiry which I have tried to do recently to be told by them that they do not check car finance companies. When I have been told this I have asked why and they have explained that it is their policy and it is a decision of their director. It seems to be a theme and I’m probably being quite clueless but does anybody know why People like the claims guys and other well-known PPI companies will not search car finance companies to see if you had taken out PPI with them pretty please? This dates back to a very long time ago and of course I should have looked into it sooner but only just came across some paperwork and wanted to see because although some of it it was hire purchase agreement, I know there was mention of PPU I just can’t remember if I said yes or no to them and need to check but the companies are saying they can’t check these places for me.:huh:

You got lucky there. Never use a claims company.
If you have a complaint, send it to whoever sold you the policy. No one can find the lenders for you if you don't know who you bought the policy from.
Just don't ask any more companie in case they agree to it and add you to the suckers list.0 -

As to old car finance, the reason they are declining to become involved is that they know already that there is no money to be had. Until January 2005, the sale of general insurance was not regulated and so car dealers (if they are still trading) can simply refuse to consider any complaint from before this date.
So you are basically wasting your time both chasing a claims firm and trying to make a complaint. If you don't know already who you bought the car from, I'm afraid it's very likely you never will...0 -
Car dealers only became regulated in 2005. The PPI issue was starting to be known by then and most pulled out by 2008-2011.
So, the window for a car dealer complaint is quite small. Plus, dealers do not tend to roll over easily. CMCs like the easy stuff. This dates back to a very long time ago0
