Petrol Lawnmower recommendation

New house has a tennis court sized rear lawn which is also slightly slopped towards the house. My old electric mower is just not ‘cut’ out for the job.
Can anybody recommend a petrol, self propelled mower.
Budget is up to £250.
I don’t need side spraying, mulching etc and would prefer the money to go on a good engine rather than features.

Try doing some research into something like a "Racing 4000T" around £140.0

Trouble is, my Honda 214, which is joy, is from circa 1985. It still doesn't use any oil.
I bought it on eBay 6 years ago for £100. Apart from routine servicing and a new blade this year, it's needed nothing doing.0 -
I did like the look of the Honda offerings but I just can’t justify the price.
In the end I opted for a Hyundai 170cc 20” self propelled machine. Robert Dias even beat Amazon on price £269.
It’s a lot of machine for the money.
Having ruled out ‘in house’ engines , I was left looking for Honda, Hyundai and Briggs and Stratton powered machines.
The B&S are nowhere near the quality of the past so that was them out. Honda was too pricey, B&Q do a mower with an older Honda engine but the build quality didn’t measure up.
I intended on going for the 140cc Hyundai but when I saw Robert Dias special offer I got the larger one.
Can’t wait for it to arrive now (free delivery)0 -

Wow such a big engine for a lawn mower,,i presume it is a typo and is 170cc:rotfl:0 -
Lol. Yep. I typed 1700 first and laughed to myself, went back to change it but must have deleted and corrected it wrong again.0

I know you are thinking about cost so this may not help
got a Hyundai 20" self propelled, its ok, same as most machines
if you have tight areas have you looked at 3 wheeled mowers? more expensive
I would look at alloy chassis again more expensive but chassis lasts where as these metal ones rust away
also with that large an area think about mower with a roller
my lawn's your sort of size and i'm thinking it would have been better to have got a ride on mower0
