OR info

Hi all,

Had a call from my OR this avo after going BR last friday....

Apparently he is sending me a letter for me to get some stuff together to send back to him by the beginning of next week and then we have our phone interview a week on thursday.

Now, i was on a debt management plan with a company called Harrington Brooks, so sent them all my loan agreements etc, called them up to get the copies back and they very kindly informed me that as i was on a debt management plan that started over 3 years ago, the files were in the loft/cellar so would take at least two months to find. They then informed me that due to the privacy protection act, all other post (i.e. threatening letters etc) that i have sent to them over the years have been destroyed! Argh!!

Can anyone shed some light on what the OR is going to want from me as am a bit concerned that i only have a week to get everything together...have a feeling they will want bank statements of my accounts that are now closed down and have no idea how i will get the info as i also shred all my statements that come through the post...feeling a bit stuuuuupid for that now but always thought i was being good by being green and recycling! duh!!

Any advise would be great (apart from teaching me how to spell!).

    Hi meech,

The O.R's generally seem sympathetic to a plight such as yours and they do have access to some impressive databases. Start making a list of the bank accounts, loans and credit cards and add to it as they start to "come back to you". Obviously you won't be able to recall account numbers, but just names would be enough for them to go on.

It doesn't really matter if you miss some; they're still included in your bankruptcy even if they're not included on your SOA.

It could also be that the O.R can make the DMC a little more cooperative.

    Regards

    Richard

    Thanks Richard!

When i was talking to the OR he didn't seem too stressed about me getting the info re loans etc.

Any ideas what he is going to ask me to get to him other than the loan stuff? As is, i have already put down all the loan info, just don't have copies of the agreements so shall see what happens!!

Still, by xmas, this may well all be over!!

Well....some of the questions asked will be how you got into debt, when was the last time you used credit?
Wouldnt worry about bank statements just give what you have anything missing the OR will be able to get themselves

As for a Bank Account have you read the sticky at the front of this forum?

You give the OR whatever they ask for if and only if you have it.

If you don't have it then the OR can get it directly themselves. It just makes things easier and quicker if they can get them from you.

They can even get details of closed accounts so no need to panic. Just be honest about what you have and what you don't and all will be fine. :)

    Thanks Phil and Ferni!!

Have no problem giving them whatever i have but i am a bit of a nutter about shredding all bank statements etc...think it has something to do with some fool hacking into my accounts years ago!!

Shall try not to worry and will deffo be honest about everything, can't afford not to be really!

Could be a long conversation explaining why i got into debt in the first place...although haven't touched a credit card or loan for over 5 years!! Ah, hands up who hates bank charges!!
  • Hi meech, don't worry about the or interview, as has already been said just give them what you've got in the way of statements etc, I was in a similar position and the or was very understanding.
As for why you got into debt the or will only want an edited version of it so they can write to your creditors with a simplified version of your circumstances, I had a a4 side of paper filled with my reasons, the or only wanted a couple of sentances, o'h well at least I was prepared lol.

Hope that helps and good luck

Thanks Ian, shall bear that one in mind when i come to filling out why i got into money problems!! Do you think 'i got pregnant, lost my job and had a baby' would work or just be a classic!
  • hiya Meech,
I spoke to the Co-op today and they are willing to keep my cash minder account open. for the paperwork, i've got a file with all the stuff i have, and i checked my credit report to ensure everything was on there. however, i have somewhere on here that that the london gazette is the profiler of bk's and therefore if you owe someone cash they will look there to see if you have filed for bk, so 'eventually' all the information should come back to the OR. hope that helps in some kind of way. your Or is quick. i've heard nothing as yet....good luck xx

You could use that no probs at all, just add something like " I found raising a baby difficult without my usual income and had to borrow to maintain a good standard of life for my child ";)
