Free Funeral

I read or heard very recently that for a certain age group (probably very old) that there was a scheme for them for a free funeral.
I have searched online but cannot find any further news.

Has anyone else heard of this please/

Anyone who dies without leaving the means to pay for a funeral can be given a funeral by the council or the NHS, depending on where the person died and if no-one else is willing to pay for one.

There's no other scheme - although there are some clickbait adverts that suggest otherwise in their strapline.

If you're not queasy, you can leave your body to science. 'They' will give your body a free cremation, unless your relatives would want to have your body back for a family funeral.
