powerline equivalent for telephone line

Does anyone know of a 'powerline' style equivalent for a standard domestic telephone line.
ie There is a piece of equipment at one end of a house with a short wire that needs to plug in to a standard phone socket (ie like a fax machine would have) - would ideally like it connecting to the phone line. Phone line largely unused for calls but has broadband on it.
Running a cable inside the house is simply not worth the time and effort and running outside is not impossible but not ideal either so looking for an option before we give up!
Ive googled but cannot find anything that looks suitable so posting here for inspiration!
Thanks

WHY do you want to do this? Are you saying you want your router (broadband) to be somewhere else in the house rather than at the main phone point?0

A long time ago at work we used something called RTX wireless extender that used DECT in a similar way to how powerlans use the mains.
There seem to be a few of the slave/extension units on ebay but I can't see any master units so that's not much use. And the one we had only had an RJ11 socket rather than a domestic NTE5 phone socket and that seems to be the case for the ebay ones so I don't know if that's a show stopper even if you can find a master.
It's possible that there might be a DECT charger unit somewhere that has an NTE5 socket but I've never seen one.
What kind of device is it?0 -

No, that's not the reason.
Its an alarm box - connects to a phone line.
And yes, I do realise some of them have sim card options and there may be limited perceived value in receiving an alarm message when you are away from the house but this is an existing piece of equipment in an existing location so exploring options.
straggleblod - you mentioned rj11 - that should be no problem converting, any chance you can post a link the ebay product you are referring

With an alarm you would be far better off with it cabled.
I actually just asked OH (IT/Telecoms Engineer) and he said there was nothing equivalent to the powerline units for phones.
Have you had an independent telecoms engineer look at running a cable? Just that some routes are not immediately obvious unless you know what to look for, such as going up outside, through the loft then back down outside at the other end of the house. (Just one idea without looking at the house).
We have managed to get cables through when the clients thought it was impossible, it is worth getting someone to look at it.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Thanks - as I mentioned, its an existing piece of equipment all fully functional as it stands right now - the thinking was that a powerline option (if available) would be a cheap and easy solution to use the remote facility that is currently dormant.
There will be no appetite at all to pay someone to run a cable.
Thanks to all.0 -
I'm struggling to understand ... how does the "remote facility" function? What does it need to connect to?0

how about this

If you want to be picky, this is probably one answer to your question, and was found on the first page of google

Looking closer these do seem to use the mains rather than DECT like the version we had.
But as I mentioned - they only seem to be the slave units, not the bases so no use unless you can track a base unit down.
There's a good description here of how they work which seems to be the scenario you've described. If so you could always get in touch with them to see if they know where you can get the complete set. They even seem to come with an RJ11 adapter
