They money was transferred directly to my U.K. account (at a greatly pained rubbish exchange rate!) so I think they do mean buyer—> me.
Their name does indeed show and it matches the title deed I just really don’t think anyone is using their brain much at Platform.0 -
so your lawyer to provide confirmation of the sale, the proceeds and how much was transferred to you.
That, in theory, should be sufficient.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
The problem is that isn’t what they have asked for. But it is possible for me to forward the lawyers details onto them and they can make their enquiries directly. That’ll be my next action if what I have sent them gets rejected.0

Unfortunately, each financial org has their own checks and balances to fulfil Anti Money Laundering applications, which in some cases (like your's) can be impossible to meet. The notion that the overseas buyer would hand you their bank statements is ridiculous. Are Platform next going to demand to find out where the buyer got THEIR funds from?
We obtained part of our deposit through a similar route and all the lender wanted was a letter from us confirming the source of the funds (they could see the funds coming in on the statement we submitted as part of the application).0 -
It’s funny that’s exactly what my mum said( about them asking to see where THEIR funds has come from)
I understand they need to satisfy their requirements but surely the most official document being the transfer of title deeds should be sufficient! That states exactly the amount the property was sold for and they can see that’s how much I got in my account.
Why would they need to see it leaving someone’s account I just think this is absurd!0 -
That is a ridiculous ask as the seller has no obligation to even keep in touch with you let alone provide a bank statement to a stranger essentially! You may just be dealing with someone incompetent at the bank. I'd ask to speak to someone else.0
